Kent state, gardens, Godsmack
Published May 4, 2006
I’m really into this “speaking truth to power” thing lately, ever since Stephen Colbert let Bush have it at the WHC Dinner. Today I spied an interview with the lead singer of Godsmack. Godsmack have made a lot of money being a really lousy band, and also by licensing their music to the Navy since 2003. Arthur Magazine wanted to know why a band might license their music for such a reason. They didn’t get all that far, but still a good read. ~
As I get older I find that the coming spring makes me wish I had a lawn and a garden to take care of. Mostly I’ve just been watching lots of Victory Garden re-runs. I can’t think of many more relaxing things than being out in nature, maybe digging part of it up and putting some tomatoes in. Ah, spring. Good stuff.
In the spirit of full disclosure I’m also very pleased to see Unsolved Mysteries in the after dinner slot on Ladytime TV again. Now, at 27, I can almost hear the themesong while alone in a house. Almost. ~
“Tin soldiers and Nixon’s coming / we’re finally on our own.” Today’s the anniversary of the Kent State massacre. How long until this stuff starts happening again? We’ve got three years to go. ~
