Notebook

Being a compendium of thoughts, notions, and ideas about design. And sometimes bacon.

Tonight we’re gonna mockup like it’s 1929

There are lots of ways to wireframe a design. I sometimes will use grid paper, or just sketch on whatever’s handy. Other times I don’t do much of a sketch at all if I’ve been thinking about a design for days or weeks beforehand. But for a project I’m working on now, I needed a more constrained method. I whipped up a quick sheet you can use to mockup screens for your iPhone apps. Each page has four separate boxes designed to mimic the iPhone’s proportions, with labels and a page title. It helped me out. Maybe it’ll help you, too. (And don’t worry: as soon as I have an iPad I’ll make one for that, too.)
