Notebook

Being a compendium of thoughts, notions, and ideas about design. And sometimes bacon.

A list of things that I have no interest in, which are therefore the cancer that is killing the interwebs

  • “Chip tunes”
  • “Steam punk”
  • Hipsters
  • 98% of the content of Buzzfeed
  • 8-bit graphics (see also: nostalgia for, games and/or art created with)
  • People who defend billion dollar corporations without compensation (guilty)
  • People who rail against one billion dollar corporation on the grounds that the billion dollar corporation they support is “more free” and “supports choice”
  • Nearly everything I see on Tumblr (see “hipsters”)
  • Facebook’s privacy policies and the lack of transparency or any iota of thoughtfulness on the part of the user thereof
  • Celebrity Twitter accounts not authored by said celebrity (how long does it take to write a tweet, really?)
  • Celebrity Facebook accounts (see above)
  • Celebrities
  • BoingBoing (see also “the home church of first world problems”)
  • TechCrunch/Michael Arrington
  • Social media
  • “Consumer as creator” (we have the newspapers to thank for this nonsense, I think)
  • Collegehumor, Gawker Media, Busted Tees and their respective staffs (see “hipsters”)
  • Forgetting to put IE on this list until after I’ve published it
  • Lists as ersatz editorials (I’m done here)

As seen elsewhere.
